Summer Camp Assistant

best summer camp ever to our campers!!

Easter Seals Florida Camp Challenge provides children and adults with disabilities and special needs a summer getaway filled with laughter, friendship and fun.  Our Summer Camp Assistants are a big part of making that happen.  We are currently seeking energetic, motivated and creative individuals to fill our summer camp assistant positions for the 2019 summer camp season. 

The summer camp assistants work in the kitchen assisting with the preparation of the dining hall and kitchen areas before meals; assisting with meal preparation and serving meals to campers; clean-up of the kitchen, dining hall and related food service areas; and assist with basic clean-up of camper cabins.  Additionally, you would assist the program staff in camp and evening activities.  Training is provided.

The summer camp assistant positions are overnight residential positions where you stay at camp for approximately seven weeks (from June 2, 2019 to July 21, 2019).

DUTIES (Include, but are not limited to):

  • Assist with the preparation of the campgrounds, facilities, kitchen and related food service areas prior to the start and at the conclusion of camp
  • Assist with unpacking food orders and inventory
  • Prepare and serve snacks for campers and staff.  Assist with preparation of special food service requests
  • Serve meals and demonstrate to campers appropriate language, manners and behavior suitable for the dining hall
  • Clean kitchen, dining area, dish room and lavatory after each meal and snacks
  • Live in cabin with a group of other staff and share the responsibility of keeping the cabin clean and organized
  • Assist with the set-up and clean-up of activity areas and assist the program staff in all camp and evening activities
  • Assist with basic clean-up of camper cabins including trash pick-up, cleaning bathrooms, and mopping floors


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, and great communication skills
  • Must be at least 16 years old
  • Compassion, energy, and creativity skills
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
