Staff Accountant

Salary is $42,840 (plus benefits)

We are seeking someone with keen attention to detail, who is able to handle multiple tasks successfully, identify and work to resolve issues, maintain internal controls, and ensure compliance with GAAP.  We need a person who takes responsibility for ensuring the general ledger is accurate and supports the Vice President of Accounting and CFO monitoring cash flow, recording all receipts, assisting with the month end closing and publishing of the financial statements.  We also need someone with the skills to present web-based trainings to staff who work across the state, helping them to understand accounting procedures.  If you are ready for this awesome challenge, and possess quality accounting skills, don't delay, apply today!

Responsibilities include:

The ability to work well in a dynamic team environment and be detail oriented is critical in this position.  Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervising the AR and AP specialist in all functions and backing up these functions as needed
  • Processing of cash receipts
  • Maintaining Internal Controls by enforcing accounting procedures
  • Monitoring cash flow daily
  • Preparing and entering general ledger transactions
  • Maintaining the fixed asset records for the organization
  • Analyzing and reconciling balance sheet accounts
  • Reconciling expenses to be reimbursed by Children's Service Councils and Florida Department of Transportation
  • Supporting staff across state with accounting questions
  • Conducting trainings for staff on accounting procedures

What we value:

  • Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance (Bachelor's degree preferred)
  • One year or more of supervisory experience preferred
  • High attention to detail and ability to work with numbers
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and reconciliation skills
  • Knowledge of working with Abila MIP or similar program is preferred
  • Non-profit experience and/or experience with individuals with disabilities is a plus
